Pregnancy & Chiropractic Care
Pregnancy and birth is a natural process and one of the most powerful times in a woman's life. The body undergoes many changes to help the body adapt as the little baby grows inside. Women love getting chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy because it is nurturing, feels wonderful and most important of all, keeps their body, mind and spirit aligned for the healthiest and happiest pregnancy and birth possible.
The Webster Technique
Webster Certified prenatal chiropractic care with Dr. Sura in Far Hills & Jersey City, NJ. Gentle, holistic support for pregnancy alignment and comfort.
Dr. Sura is certified in the Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). This technique uses a gentle, specific sacral adjustment to support pelvic alignment and optimal nerve system function during pregnancy. By reducing sacral/SI joint imbalance, the Webster Technique helps balance the surrounding muscles and ligaments, reduces tension on the uterus, and supports optimal fetal positioning. Proper alignment creates more space for your baby to grow, develop, and move through the birthing canal with ease.

“I started seeing Dr. Sura for pregnancy back pain and round ligament discomfort, and it completely changed my pregnancy experience. She is trained in the Webster Technique and explains how alignment supports smoother birth outcomes. I felt supported physically and emotionally every visit. The office in Far Hills is peaceful and beautiful. It feels more like a wellness studio than a medical office. My sciatica improved, my anxiety decreased, and I genuinely looked forward to appointments. If you are pregnant in Somerset County and looking for a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy and women’s health, this is the place.”
Biomechanics, Movement & Ease
During Pregnancy, a woman's center of gravity shifts as her belly enlarges, altering the pressure on her joints, muscles, and nerves. In addition, her ligaments become lax as her hormones, relaxin and elastin, help her body become looser in preparation for her babies' birth. All these changes alter a woman's biomechanics resulting in discomfort, pain, and a less optimal functioning of her nervous system. Misalignments in the spine will often be experienced as discomfort or pain in the body (although many misalignments are not symptomatic).
“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers—strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”
Postpartum & Chiropractic
Postpartum care focuses on helping a woman’s body align naturally after birth and in the early stages of motherhood. The fourth trimester is a time of great change in a woman’s body and life. Chiropractic care helps support a women’s physical, emotional and mental health. Many new mothers find care to be an integral part of structured “me time” to connect with themselves and receive nurturing care. As the body recovers from birth and the hormones begin to regulate, chiropractic care is an essential part of supporting a mother’s wellbeing during postpartum.
Supporting Your Hormones at Home
Optimizing your nervous system during fertility and pregnancy goes beyond what happens in the office.
Many of the personal care and household products we use every day contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals that may interfere with hormone balance, thyroid function, detoxification pathways, and even baby’s developing brain and immune system. For women trying to conceive or currently pregnant, reducing environmental stressors can be an important step in supporting healthy ovulation, implantation, and fetal development.
We created a gentle guide to help you make simple non-toxic swaps at home that support both your hormones and your nervous system throughout preconception and pregnancy.
